Gridiron Club Meeting Minutes Are Posted Below:
Canfield Grid Iron Meeting April 4th, 2011
Meeting called to order by President Chris Cole at 7:10 PM. He thanked everyone for coming to the meeting. A thank you was sent to the club from Coach Jim Roucher’s family for the donation in his father’s name to St. Michael’s.
No motion was made to accept the minutes as there were no minutes from the previous meeting due to no secretary.
President Chris Cole invited Nick Delisio from Taste Buds as a special guest speaker to give the club organizational information for a fund raiser he recently attended to benefit St. Charles. The event was called Taste of St Charles. The event consisted of area food and beverage vendors, and they competed for awards provided by the event and given out by local celebrity judges. Only expense on their part was paper products. All vendors bring the food. Possibly get hall donated. Assign football players to help the food vendors. $50 per couple. Cash bar possible. Chinese Auction, 50/50. Pre sale is a must for food counts.
Discussion ensued about a good time to have the event. October was decided on as the best month for the event. Publicize and sell tickets at the home games.
October 15th was decided on. St. Michael’s is in consideration for the hall.

Deana Tareshawty and Renee Benson agreed to be the committee to explore the options for “Taste of Canfield”

Old Business
Corporate sponsors
Brochure made and ready to go. Levels readjusted from last year. Platinum $5,000, Gold $1,000, Sliver $500.
The next meeting is scheduled forMay 2nd. Levy is May 3rd. Considering moving meeting to the Monday after to discuss the levy results and where the Grid iron goes from here.
Pay to play? Greg Cooper said details on this are not firmed up as of yet.
$200 per child per sport is mentioned as of now.
Tailgate activities for the season were mentioned. Rich Blanko and his band would like to come out and play with Chris Cole’s band to “rock the tailgate” spice up the pre game. Need tailgate activities. Maybe the 9th of September to try it out and see how it goes. Also another opportunity for our corporate sponsors to get involved.
New Business
Opt out option for fundraisers was discussed.
Meet the team- kick it up a notch and do a bigger event of announcing the team outside and them come in to the steak fry.
We are Canfield window clings. $5 to make sell for $15 make $10. A basic window cling for all sports to use so they can be sold to all sports. Steve presented this idea as he is going to do this on his own to purchase new camera equipment. After the money has been made to purchase the cameras, he said the Gridiron can sell the rest for a fundraiser.
Coach Pavlansky: Thanked everyone for coming and encouraged us to stay positive concerning the levy. A lot of things are on hold now due to it.
Grades are critical for the last 9 weeks of the year as the State looks at that for eligibility.
The game with Chaney has been removed from the schedule. Dayton Dunbar possibly to fill the gap. 2nd possibility is Maple Heights. We need to bring in good teams for the points ranking. Looking at other Cleveland teams as a possibility.
Meeting adjourned 8:15
