Out of Season Football Participation and Athletic Eligibility

Please do not allow your school’s football players to participate in ANY kind of out of season football games. They may lose eligibility for the 2009 season.

Athletes who participate on a school-sponsored team in 2008 are permitted to play non-contact football ONLY during June and July. No athlete can play contact football outside of the school season: see item 4.41 on page 96 of the OHSAA Handbook. The prohibition regarding contact includes all camps and instructional programs.

Several 7 on 7 and team camps are being conducted in Ohio by private companies in March, April and May. Participants in these camps may become ineligible for interscholastic competition in 2009.

Athletes are permitted to participate in combines.
